Do you take insurance?
No. I am considered as an out-of-network providers and do not participate in any insurance plans. However, we can provide you a billing statement (also called a “superbill”) after each session for you to submit a claim. Your plan may include out-of-network benefits for speech & language therapy, in which case you can submit a claim to possibly be reimbursed for my services.
Where are you based at?
I am currently based in Long Island, NY. However, I sometimes travels back to Boston if there is an influx of demand.
How do you conduct a bilingual evaluation?
For pediatric, I often utilize different standardized evaluation tools to look into the child's vocabulary and syntax, with additional clinical observation through interaction and play. Due to the lack of test for Mandarin-speaking children in the U.S., I obtain the official evaluation kits that are designed for native-Mandarin-speaking children from overseas, which makes my evaluation stand out from other providers.
Can you attend school IEP meetings?
Yes, parents can request me to attend IEP meeting to advocate for your families.
Do you offer virtual services?
Yes. Virtual and in-person services are both offered.
Does an international client have a different rate?
Yes. Due to different economical situation, different rates for clients outside of the U.S. are provided to make the services more affordable and accessible.
Do you provide scaling fee?
Yes. With a proof of financial hardship, I can provide a scaling fee based on each individual situation. Please reach out if you need further information.
Is Kathleen truly bilingual?
Yes. I am fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese as I grew up in Taiwan. I also read and write in simplified and traditional Chinese.
Do you provide report in Mandarin?
Yes. An English report is by default if the clients resides in the U.S.. An additional Mandarin report can also be provided as needed with an additional small fee, so you can save the trouble having it translated to save time and money.
